Academy Director Spotlight
Last week, we were thrilled to announce the appointment of David Morse as Academy Director of Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy.

A longtime and beloved member of our Cincinnati Ballet community, David has served as a Soloist with the professional Company, a choreographer, a dedicated faculty member, and most recently as Academy Principal and Professional Training Division Director. His deep understanding of our artistic values, paired with a genuine commitment to our students, makes him exceptionally well suited for this role, and signals an exciting new chapter for our Academy.

Costume Distribution Week: April 20 - 25

Costumes will be distributed during or after your student’s class the week of April 20 – 25. During that week, we encourage a parent or guardian be present to pick up your student and sign for their costume to ensure it makes it into the right hands. Should costumes not make it home, there’s not sufficient time to order another.

Preparatory, Young Dancer and Advanced Divisions
Costume Fittings: April 27-30

Fitting schedule details for each class and level will be coming soon via email!

Volunteers for Rehearsals and Performances
Each season, Spring Production is made possible by the incredible support of Academy parents, guardians and family members who work behind the scenes to support the magic of our students on stage. Volunteer information and sign-ups will come your way later this month. We would be grateful for any time you are able to offer during a rehearsal or performance. All performance volunteers will have the opportunity to view their dancer's piece from backstage, and all volunteers get one free ticket to the Spring Production performance of their choice!
Community Division Showcase
This Saturday, April 11, our Community Division, PD Jazz Elective, and CB Moves classes come together to showcase their talents in the 2026 Community Division Showcase! Featuring a wide array of dance disciplines from jazz and contemporary to musical theater and ballet, the Community Division Showcase celebrates the breadth of our Academy community.

On Stage: Director's Vision: Liberty in Motion
and Family Series: Pinocchio
The month of April will see not one but TWO spectacular productions from Cincinnati Ballet at the Aronoff Center!

From April 10-12, Director’s Vision: Liberty in Motion is a patriotic triple bill featuring works from choreographers Justin Peck, Claudia Schreier, and George Balanchine. Peck’s The Times Are Racing draws inspiration from a variety of dance styles while matching Dan Deacon’s electronic score with youthful impulse and vigor. Schreier’s First Impulse is a neoclassical style work rooted in contemporary ballet concepts. Balanchine’s Serenade is a milestone in the history of dance, as the first original ballet George Balanchine created in America.

From April 16-19, Family Series: Pinocchio presents the classic heartwarming story of a puppet who wants to be a real boy. This one-hour, narrated ballet features Cincinnati Ballet Second Company – CB2 dancers, Professional Training Division dancers, and nearly 40 young performers from our Otto M. Budig Academy. It’s the perfect introduction to dance, even for the youngest members of your family. Arrive early for free lobby games, crafts, photos, and more.
