Spring Production
It’s that time again! Our faculty is eager to begin working on choreography and in-class rehearsals this month for our season culminating Spring Production! This year’s performances will be held in the Corbett Theater at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, 2024:

Preparatory, Young Dancer and Advanced Division classes will perform both evenings, Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18.

Children’s Division (Creative Dance, Pre Ballet, and CD Tap) classes will perform in one of three daytime performances on Saturday, May 18.

Specific times will be announced later this spring, as will lots more information to help you and your dancer prepare… but if you haven’t yet, you can mark your calendars for those dates now! We can’t wait to celebrate a great year with you!
Community Division Showcase
This month our Community Division and CB Moves classes will begin preparing for this year’s Community Division Showcase, scheduled for Saturday, April 20. This annual showcase will feature a wide variety of dance styles including ballet, musical theater, jazz, contemporary, and street dance, as well as selections from our CB Moves classes.

For students currently enrolled in a Community Division and/or CB Moves class, participation in the Showcase is optional. A survey will be sent to eligible students very soon—please take a moment to complete that so we know whether you’ll be performing with us in April.

For the rest of our Academy community, we hope you’ll mark your calendars and join us!
Youth America Grand Prix
This spring five Academy students are competing in Youth America Grand Prix, an international student ballet competition and scholarship program. These dancers have spent the fall and winter months preparing for YAGP in rehearsals with Academy faculty.

We hope you’ll join us in recognizing Addie Back, who performed in Winston-Salem, and sending good wishes to Mollie Berk, Frances Kiley, Siena Santagata, and Emma Tardivon, who will be traveling this month to Pittsburgh to perform. We’re incredibly proud of each and every one of them for working so hard to represent our Academy on a national stage

Calendar
February 16-25: Don Quixote at Music Hall

February 20: Tuition Payments Due (4&8 Installment Plans)

February 26 - March 3: No Professional Training Division Classes
On Stage: Don Quixote
From February 16-25 at Music Hall, join Don Quixote on his fanciful quest to find love and prove chivalry is not dead! This full-length story ballet is a high-energy, sunny romp through the Spanish countryside based on Miguel de Cervantes’ classic novel. Audiences are immersed in an adventure filled with romance, tragedy, and comedy, including such famous scenes as the duel between Don Quixote and a windmill. The ballet has long been acclaimed for its virtuoso dancing, and the choreography paints a story infused with the ideals of knighthood, chivalry, and Don Quixote’s love affair with Dulcinea. We’re especially thrilled to see the thirteen Academy students dancing as young performers in this performance.
