September Academy Newsletter
We’ve loved having dancers from our Preparatory, Young Dancer, Advanced, and Professional Training Divisions and our Open Electives back in the studio, and we can’t wait to welcome Children’s Division and CB Moves dancers later this month. It’s not too late to register! If you have friends who would like to join us for an inspiring year of dance, please encourage them to visit our website or reach out for personal support from our team.
Academy Director Welcome
Welcome to the 2026-2027 Otto M. Budig Academy Season!

As we kick off a new season together, we invite our dancers and families to join us in a simple but powerful commitment:
the studio is a special place where meaningful work happens. It's a place to work hard, take risks, learn from one another, and discover what's possible. We're excited to create an environment where every dancer feels focused, encouraged, and supported in their growth by peers and faculty alike and we thank you for the important role you play in creating that kind of environment.

For our dancers, that can look like attending regularly and arriving ready to make the most of class: on time, in dress code, with hair secured and belongings put away. It means listening thoughtfully, staying engaged, and welcoming corrections in the spirit in which they’re intended—as information, not criticism—because feedback is the main engine of progress. We also encourage our dancers to be fearless, not flawless. Mistakes are an important part of learning, so take risks, stay curious, and give yourself permission to keep trying. And most of all, we hope our Academy community is grounded in shared respect. The way we treat our peers, faculty, accompanists, staff, and our facility helps shape the experience for everyone. When each person contributes to a positive and supportive studio culture, we create a place where dancers can do their best work and feel a true sense of belonging.

We’re so glad to begin this season together and look forward to all that the year will bring!

- David Morse, Academy Director

New Faculty
We are thrilled to introduce two outstanding additions to our full-time Academy faculty this season.

Rhodes Elliott (Principal, Professional Training Division)

Rhodes trained at South Carolina Dance Theatre before dancing with Houston Ballet. Since retiring from the stage, he has held leadership and teaching positions with Texas Academy of Dance Arts, Texas Ballet Theater School, and Sacramento Ballet. His experience mentoring pre-professional dancers and leading advanced training programs makes him exceptionally well suited to guide the continued growth of our Professional Training Division.
Elise Elliott (Resident Faculty)
Elise danced for ten years with Houston Ballet before transitioning into educational and artistic leadership with the Youth Ballet Company at Texas Academy of Dance Arts, Texas Ballet Theater, and Sacramento Ballet. In addition to her extensive teaching and choreographic experience, she is a sought-after master teacher and certified fitness coach who is passionate about developing well-rounded artists.

Together, they bring an extraordinary depth of professional performance, teaching, and leadership experience—and we can’t wait to see the meaningful impact they’ll have on our students and our organization this season and beyond. Please join us in giving Rhodes and Elise a warm Cincinnati Ballet welcome!
PTD Fall Studio Showcase
Save the Date! The Professional Training Division's performance season kicks off with a Fall Studio Showcase on Saturday, October 3, 2026, here at the Margaret and Michael Valentine Center for Dance.

Tickets will be available soon, and we hope to see you there!

Now in its fourth season, this program is designed to provide dancers in the highest levels of our Academy with exclusive performance opportunities. Participants will showcase their talents through classical and contemporary pieces specially crafted for the Ensemble, which is curated and led by Sirui Liu, Principal Dancer for Cincinnati Ballet and Associate Principal, Ensemble for the Otto M. Budig Academy.

Registration is now open for enrolled students in Young Dancer Division 3 and the Advanced Division! For our younger dancers and families, we hope you’ll join us for this season’s Ensemble Showcases in December and May. We can’t wait to see them shine!
