Academy Newsletter: May 2025

Academy dancers take the stage for our season-culminating Spring Production performances, May 16-17, 2025, at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. Students in the Preparatory, Young Dancer, and Advanced Divisions bring to life beloved selections of iconic ballets including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Don Quixote and Swan Lake while our Children’s Division presents Enchanted Garden.

Volunteers are still needed for Spring Production rehearsals and performances! We’re so grateful for the many parents, guardians, and family members who pitch in behind the scenes to make our year-end productions a success. All performance volunteers will have the opportunity to view their dancer's piece from backstage, and all volunteers get one free ticket to the Spring Production performance of their choice!

Our 2024-2025 Professional Training Division class concludes their season with two special performances!

The Professional Training Division Showcase is an impressive mixed bill of works featuring Balanchine's exquisite neoclassical ballet Concerto Barocco, original works by David Morse and Megan Flynn, and classical excerpts including the virtuosic audience favorite, Paquita.

Each and every year, we see dancers make big strides in their training over the summer. Summer training is key in retaining what they've learned and building skill and confidence for the year ahead. Registration is now open for the return of our summer Variations Workshop! This program is designed to inspire young dancers interested in taking a deeper dive into variations from some of classical ballet's most iconic masterpieces. Whether your goal is to take center stage at a ballet competition or discover new ways to shine in the studio, this one-week program will develop your technique and style as a solo artist.

CB Moves Family Dance Days kick off this weekend! Family Dance Days offer current CB Moves dancers an opportunity to stay engaged over the summer and for newly interested families to try our adaptive dance classes in a fun and approachable way. Each date features a unique theme and classes are designed for a student and an adult to dance together. Join us for one or all four and meet your fellow dancers over donuts before or after class!

As we celebrate the conclusion of the 2024-2025 Academy year, we also look ahead to an exciting next season! Our team is hard at work putting the final touches on next year’s programming, and we look forward to dancing with you again in the 2025-2026 Season.

Priority Registration: All current Academy families receive exclusive priority access to registration for the upcoming Academy year. This priority period will open later this month. More information will come your way soon!

Placement and Progress Reports: Students currently in the Preparatory, Young Dancer, and Advanced Divisions receive their 2025-2026 Academy placement as part of their year-end progress report, which will be sent the week following Spring Production. 2025-2026 placement for current Children’s Division students will be shared at the opening of priority registration.

New Students: At the conclusion of priority registration, enrollment will open to new students. If you know any new families eager to join the Academy for our upcoming 2025-2026 Season, please encourage them to complete a new student inquiry so we can keep them updated on next steps.

The Season kicks off with the world-premiere packed The KAPLAN NEW WORKS Series. Then dream dangerously with the regional premiere of Septime Webre’s The Great Gatsby then travel to the Land of Sweets for The Nutcracker presented by Sheakley Family. 2026 launches with the breathtaking romantic tragedy Swan Lake in February before spring brings our annual Family Series: Pinocchio and a new production concept — DIRECTOR’S VISION: Liberty In Motion, a patriotic triple bill to conclude the 2025-2026 Season.

It’s a season you won’t want to miss! Subscription packages are available now, and single tickets will go on sale in August. We hope to see you in the theater next year!
