Summer and Collegiate Intensives

We’re excited to announce the dates for our 2025 summer intensives:
Summer Intensive: June 16 - July 25, 2025

Audition Information: While summer training may be months away, summer audition season begins in January! This season, Otto M. Budig Academy students interested in attending Cincinnati Ballet's summer programs do not need to audition. Information regarding summer placement and registration will be sent to eligible students at a later date.

Join us Saturday, December 7, for a festive production the whole family can enjoy by the Academy's Student Performance Ensemble! The Ensemble's Winter Showcase features the delightfully charming ballet The Fairy Doll, set in an enchanted toyshop, paired perfectly with beloved selections from the holiday classic, The Nutcracker. Extend the experience and join us early for festive treats and beverages before the performance.

We’d love to invite all the aspiring dancers in our community to try a complimentary class on us and hope you can help us spread the word. Academy Winter Break: No classes December 23, 2024 - January 5, 2025
This includes Children's, Preparatory, Community, Young Dancer and Advanced Divisions.
CB Moves Youth Winter Break: No classes December 16, 2024 - January 12, 2025
Celebrate the holidays with your fellow CB Moves dancers during the week of December 9-13! These optional classes are Family Dance Days. Please note, volunteers will not be present for Family Dance Days, so classes that typically feature volunteer support will require an adult participant. Join us in the studio for a fun holiday themed dance class!
Adult Dance + Fitness
Classes will run as normally scheduled during the Academy Winter Break with a few exceptions: no classes will be held on December 24, December 25, or the entire week of December 30-January 5 (when the Center for Dance will be closed).
We hope everyone enjoys a festive holiday break!

As we prepare to head into winter break, our faculty is hard at work on mid-year progress reports for many of our students. Students in the Preparatory, Young Dancer, and Advanced Divisions will receive progress reports when we return from the break in January, so keep an eye on your inboxes when we return to classes! We look forward to recognizing student progress and providing constructive insight on areas for students to focus on as we head into the second half of the year.

Have you marked your calendars yet for the weekend of May 16-17? While Spring Production is still months away, teachers will begin rehearsing choreography during class time early in 2025, and much more information will follow in the new year to help you prepare for this exciting milestone in our season.
Children’s Division Costume Measurements:
For students in Creative Dance and Pre Ballet classes, the first Spring Production action item will be for you. Look for an email later this month about taking and submitting costume measurements for your student.

Winter Weather Protocol Reminder

We have reached winter weather season once again! You can find weather-related class updates via the following channels:

If the Academy ever remains open during winter weather and you feel it is unsafe to come for class, please contact us through the usual attendance reporting channels, and your student's absence will be excused.

Before we head into the winter break, we're excited to introduce our first Free Dress Week! From December 16 - 22, dancers in our Children's through Advanced Divisions are invited to wear a leotard or dance shirt of their choice for any of their classes during the week. Some dress code policies still apply but we look forward to offering dancers an opportunity to wear some of their favorite styles.

This season marks the 50th anniversary of Cincinnati Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. No holiday is complete without a trip to the Land of Sweets! When a curious young girl named Clara receives a magical Nutcracker for Christmas, her dreams come to life. Joined by her Nutcracker Prince, Clara meets the Sugar Plum Fairy and a cast of colorful characters. This includes nearly 100 young performers from our Academy and community-- please join us in applauding these remarkable young dancers! With Tchaikovsky’s beloved score performed live by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. And new this season - added performances after Christmas to keep the magic alive in the post-holiday down time.
